Brett Favre Pictures

So here we are with another NFL football season upon us. Change is to be expected. There will be some new rules on the boards and revisions made to old ones. Teams, players and coaches have changed locations. One thing that no one factored into the new upcoming NFL season is Brett Favre. Yes sports fans it is true, Brett Favre and all the drama surrounding him is set to take its ungratefull place in the 2009 NFL football season.
Flashback to the end of last season when Brett Favre announced he would retire as quarterback of the New York Jets. There was a collective sigh of relief heard around the league that there would be no BF drama in the off season. Who could forget the temper tantrum that played out between Favre and the Green Bay Packers at the end of the 2007 season. All was quiet on the Favre off season front until the New York Jets removed him from their ‘reserve/retired’ list paving the way for new team colors for BF. This time around the lucky team in Favre’s sight line was the Minnesota Vikings.
There was initial interest on both sides for a deal to be reached that would make Favre a Viking. The team asked and got no response. Favre inquired and got no response. Both sides remained fairly quiet to the media. Fast forward to today when the Vikings eagerly awaited a response from Favre camp. As the day progressed with no answer in sight, inquiring minds heard a simple ‘nope’ when asking Favre’s agent if an answer would appear before the stroke of midnight. Instead Favre answer time has been moved to early next week.
Once upon a time Brett Favre was regarded as one of the best players to take center stage in the NFL. His records spoke for themselves. His playing ability on the field left many speechless. All of this has been erased in the minds of players, coaches and sports fans thanks to the drama filled off-seasons of 2007 and 2008. Gone are the MVP and Superbowl seasons of the 90’s. Gone is the September 2006 game when he became only the second quarterback to register 400 touchdown passes. Gone is the 2007 season ending game where he scored his 18th consecutive post-season touchdown pass, a team record. It was to be on that shinning moment that Favre walked away from the game with his head held high.
